Ella McK – Senior Tutor

Ella is a Master Artist – gaining her Masters Degree in Prosthetics and Special Effects from the UK’s no1 art school, studying under BAFTA award winning artist Neill Gorton. She is a professional teacher having lectured in digital design, silicone art, sculpture, moulding & casting & creature/character design at Solent University. She works in both doll art and film/television effects.
Ella has been a doll maker for over 20 years, as a sculptor, moulder, caster and reborn artist. She has won awards internationally for both her painting and her rooted hair work. Her sculpting work has featured on the cover of Discover Dolls magazine. Ella’s early career in the manufacturing side of polymers including resins and silicones gives her an excellent knowledge of the technical side of silicone. She is also a military trained engineer. In her later career, along with teaching and making dolls for collectors, she creates babies & creatures for screen and stage performance. Her work ranges from 6 foot tall hairy werewolf suits to bird people and robots in the worlds longest running sci fi series. Her babies still remain her most popular screen projects.
Ella has never wanted to venture into producing her kits into vinyl, keeping them exclusively in very short productions in silicone. She mainly sculpts her babies traditionally in clay, but uses digital sculpture primarily for TV work. She prefers to paint using an airbrush technique for both vinyl and silicone babies.
